Invisible Imprints is a research project developed at the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine.
A building is not only what we see of it. It acts on the air that passes through it, on thermal circulations, on the propagation of sound. So many phenomena that exist around us yet largely escape our gaze.
Benoit Marini explores the possibility of changing the way we perceive them: a sound wave can become an image, an air flow or a thermal circulation can become a form and a movement of light.
Invisible Imprints thus continues the artist’s research into perception by shifting its terms, turning phenomena that are usually invisible into a sensory experience.
A way of no longer looking at architecture only for what it gives us to see, but also for what it produces around itself and what our eyes cannot perceive.
